15/09/2008 -TWO SERIOUS HOUSE FIRES


Monday saw Skegness attending two serious fires during the daytime.


Monday, 4.32pm - A 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a flat fire in Cecil Avenue, Skegness ,suffering from severe burns.

Two appliances form Skegness, one from Wainfleet and one from Spilsby were called to the fire at 12.30pm. BA crews found the casualty in a first floor flat and quickly brought her out for medical attention.

The woman sustained severe burn injuries and was been taken Sheffield Hospital in a critical condition.

There are not believed to be any further occupants at the address.

The cause of the fire has yet to be established and an investigation by fire officers, forensic science service and Lincolnshire Police scenes of crime officers is continuing at the scene and the house remains cordoned off.

 

In a second incident earlier in the day......

 

A PENSIONER died in a garage fire in Johnson Way, Burgh le Marsh.

Police and fire crews were called to the fire at about 6am. Extensive damage was caused to the garage but the house and surrounding area was unaffected.

A 72-year-old man died as a result of the fire and a woman at the same address was unharmed.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious but it is being investigated by the fire service, with the forensic science service and Lincolnshire Police scenes of crime Officers.
